transferring domain
-
So today I signed up for a personal account on wp.com with the domain name rootsandmoss.com. I’ve been using wp.com previously and meant to stay with the same themes, etc. Then I pretty quickly realized it would be tricky for me to post poetry and keep the formatting correct. Then i realized i couldn’t get the plugins without a substantial upgrade soooo… I cancelled my account, went back to a free account and it looks like I gave up my domain name. Thanks for the refund BTW! Anyway, I went over to bluehost and set up an account, thinking, naively, that I could simply transfer the site and the domain name over there. Haha! Not so fast, they said. So now I’ve got an account with bluehost, but I can’t transfer my site from wp.com to wp.org, apparently. Or something, I don’t know…i’m new to this transfer stuff. I want to be able to import my wp.com site into wp.org. And keep the domain if possible. The chat with bluehost yielded some attempts but I could not see any options under domain in My Site at wp.com. The representative from bluehost recommended this: ask wp.com to change the nameserver to nm1.bluehost.com nm2.bluehost.com. What say you?
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you cancelled the plan and the domain then you don’t own the domain and can’t transfer that domain anywhere. You may be able to purchase it again if you cancelled it within the timeframe or perhaps staff can recover it here and then you can point it to your Bluehost site. After 60 days then you could transfer it,
This thread has been tagged to ask a member of staff to look at your account and hopefully assist.
PS You can do poetry formatting right here at WordPress.com, and apart from plugins you won’t find things work much differently at a WordPress.org site. -
Alright. Thanks! The problem I am having with poetry has to do with copying and pasting from a word doc. It used to be doable before block formatting. This is the first time I’ve tried it since the classic editor went away. Anyway, thanks so much for your input. It’s okay if I lost that domain.

You won’t find WordPress.org handles Word differently to here. It has never been a great idea to copy/paste Word as formatting (including poetry) there works differently to websites. Have you tried the verse block?

If you are determined to continue with Word see

Hey there,
You canceled the domain within 5 days of registering it, so it should be available again soon. Once a domain name is deleted by the registry at this stage, it is immediately available for registration by any registrant through any Registrar, and that happens shortly after the 5 day grace period.
We can immediately restore the domain for you within that 5 day period, but after that, we no longer have control over it. As @themagicrobot referenced, depending on where you want to register the domain (with us or elsewhere), you should decide ASAP on how you want it re-registered. You can always point the domain over to your host from WordPress.com until the 60-day transfer lock is lifted (where you can transfer the domain anywhere you please). That will at least guarantee you will get it back without any potential complications. Let me know.
Thanks,
