Transferring domain

  I just made a BlueHost account and registered a domain with it ThingDoing.com, which was a part of my wordpress account. So I thought if I deleted it from my wordpress then I could use it on BlueHost, but the domain still appears to be registered to wordpress, and when I try to transfer it it says I have to wait 60 days. What do I do?

  Hi there,

  It is only possible to transfer a domain 60 days after the registration date. This 60-day lock is required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and cannot be waived. More info here:

  You can, however, keep your domain on WordPress.com and point it to your Bluehost site by changing its name servers. Here’s how to do it:

  I’m not sure I can do that now, because I deleted the domain from my wordpress.com account. Does that mean I am stuck?

  Don’t worry I have notified the Support Staff. Hopefully, they can recover your domain since it is recently deleted. Stay subscribed to this topic and Support Staff will contact you shortly with more info.

  Hi there,

  Because you cancelled the domain, you no longer own it, so you can’t do anything with it.

  As you cancelled the day after you bought it, the domain should be released again towards the end of this week, at which time you can buy it somewhere else. (Provided, of course, no one else buys it before you’re able to.)

  The other option is that I restore the domain for you. Then you can map it to Bluehost until you’ve owned it for 60 days, at which point you’ll be able to transfer it to them completely.

  I’ve restored your domain.

  To map it to Bluehost, please ask them for their name servers. Then go to My Site ->Domains, click on the domain, and click on Name Servers and DNS. You’ll have the option to add Bluehost’s name servers there. Once you add them, it will take about 72 hours for the name servers to update, and then the domain will be showing your Bluehost site.
