Transferring Domain

  To whom this may concern,

  I had a terrible experience with hostgator when attempting to sign up for the domain noproblemvegan.com. I cancelled immediately and really should have pursued the wordpress model as it fits my business model entirely. However, wordpress says I have 59 days left until the domain can be transferred! Please assist me with this process as I cannot map the domain since the website is brand new. I appreciate your help.

  Hi –

  Yes, you can map noproblemvegan.com to WordPress.com. It’s not eligible to be transferred, but you own the domain, and can point it to any service that you wish to use.

  Please ask the domain provider to update the name servers on the domain to point the domain to WordPress.com.

  This is known as mapping: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  To get your WordPress.com account ready for the domain you’ll need to add a plan to your account. Those are here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  Once the plan is added, you’ll go to My Sites – Domains – Add – Map it! and enter your domain.

  The last step is to get the name servers pointed to WordPress.com – once that is accomplished the domain is going to show the WordPress.com version of your site.

  In the mean time, you can get started on setting up the site on a free address. Click on My Sites from the upper left corner to load your dashboard. I’ve included some other helpful pages to help you get up and running:
