Transferring domain from GoDaddy?

    If I wanted to wordpress.com to take over management of a domain that I currently have with godaddy (so that I don’t have to go through 2 different companies and billed twice), what would be the best way to do that? Cancel the domain with GoDaddy, then try to pick it up with wordpress some time later? Or is there a more seamless way to hold the domain during this process? If not and I have to cancel/pick up, how long will the downtime be before wordpress will think it’s available and we can get back up and running? Thanks!
