Transferring domain from Wordress.com to WordPress.org
-
I’m paying $26 a year for a domain with WordPress.com. I’ll be billed next week for the renewal of the domain. I’m looking to transfer to a WordPress.org blog instead of .com. I’ve seen the steps for transferring and am confident in performing the transfer but I am unclear on one thing. When setting up hosting with bluehost, should I choose that I need a domain name, or that I already have one?

That you already have one. Note that you can change where the domain POINTS and still keep management here at WordPress.com. I find it handy, but some people don’t, and if you want to move the management and administration of the domain as well, you’ll need to contact Bluehost about that.

If I change the registration and move the hosting over as per this instruction here:

Do I continue paying to WordPress? Or would I only pay to Bluehost after this?Thank you so much for your help, much appreciated.
