Transferring Domain Issue
-
Hello,
I am new to transferring domains and such and need desperate help.
I was designing my website using WP’s free domain: kennedybmcom.wpcomstaging.com and had everything good to go. I then completed my website design and started and completed the domain transfer from AWS Amazon to WordPress. The domain got transferred.
There are a couple of issues now:
- An error shows that “Jetpack can’t communicate with your site”. I have gone through several steps I found online and I cannot even go into Jetpack’s dashboard. This error shows: {“meta”:{“status”:404,”message”:”Not found”},”error”:{“message”:”Not Found”,”status”:404,”details”:”Cannot find /wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack”}}
- I am having DNS issues which I am not sure if it can be fixed here
- I can no longer edit the home page of kennedybmcom.wpcomstaging.com. I can view it with the design I made but I cannot edit. However, I can access other pages and edit them.
- Going into kennedybmcom.wpcomstaging.com takes me directly to kennedybm.com.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
I noticed the domain still has custom IP addresses pointing to an external server. That’s mainly why you can’t view your WordPress.com site on your domain and Jetpack is having trouble connecting to it.
For now, I set kennedybmcom.wpcomstaging.com as the primary address. Your browser may still redirect you to the domain. Please try clearing your browser cache so that it stops redirecting. Here’s how to clear your browser cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
Are you ready to point the domain to your WordPress.com site? If yes, please click here and remove all the “A” records by clicking the three dots next to them and clicking “Delete.” When all of them are deleted, we’ll automatically point the domain to WordPress.com IP addresses. This DNS change can take up to 72 hours to take effect.
We can make this change for you as well. Please let me know if you’d like us to.
Once the DNS changes have propagated, you can set the domain as the primary address again by following these instructions.
Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.

Hi there! Thank you so much for your response!
I just want to confirm if we proceed with this will the previous design made on kennedybmcom.wpcomstaging.com be deleted? I want to make sure that this design gets transferred to the new domain kennedybm.com.
I have gone ahead and removed all “A” records. -
Hi there!
I noticed there are still three A records pointing the domain to external IP addresses. Since I know you want to use the domain with your WordPress.com site, I’ve gone ahead and removed them for you.
Please allow up to 72 hours for the changes to propagate. You’ll notice the domain redirecting to kennedybmcom.wpcomstaging.com. That’s when you can set your domain as the primary address by following this guide.
I just want to confirm if we proceed with this will the previous design made on kennedybmcom.wpcomstaging.com be deleted? I want to make sure that this design gets transferred to the new domain kennedybm.com.
Nope! Nothing will be deleted. The site remains the same. Basically, by pointing the domain to WordPress.com and making it the primary address, you’re showing the same site from kennedybmcom.wpcomstaging.com in your domain.
So, everything you see now at kennedybmcom.wpcomstaging.com will show up at kennedybm.com once (i) the domain is pointing to WordPress.com, and ii) it’s set as the primary address.
Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.

Thank you so so so so much! You don’t understand how much this means to me!!
If you do not mind, I have one minor issue as well with the forms. I am using WP’s default contact form on our contact us page and for some reason the email notification is not coming through. Will you be able to look into this as well?
-
One quick thing so it seems as though the website design is not showing on the kennedybm.com domain. Does this process take some time?
-
I’m showing this under your kennedybm.com site currently:
Is this the correct design? If there was a delay, it was likely due to the propagation of your domain to point to the new site.
Let us know if you still have trouble and we’ll be happy to take a closer look.

Thank you! It was a dumb mistake of mine – I didn’t publish it xD
Again thank you so much!!!

Haha! No worries @kennedybuildingmanagement. Thanks for the update and glad to hear you were able to figure it out! 😄
