Transferring domain name

    I purchased a domain name from GoDaddy.com. I don’t have a website connected to it. So, I’m not understanding why I can’t link the web name to WordPress. The message says that I’m not eligible for 14 days, but if I want to transfer now, I’ll have to pay. I’m interested in the FREE plan. Is it not possible to create a WordPress website using my current website name?

    Hi there!

    When you create a free website at WordPress.com, you get a custom URL like example.wordpress.com. Mapping (or pointing) a custom domain (www.example.com) at your free WordPres.com blog requires a plan upgrade.

    To create a website with a webhost usually requires a hosting plan of some sort. Their introductory offer seems the same price as the WordPress.com Personal plan, which would include the domain mapping charge. https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    Regarding the delay, that’s an industry timeline. Here is the WordPress.com domain page with more information: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

    You could also transfer the domain to WordPress.com to have both your site and domain with the same provider.
