Transferring domain name

    If I transfer a domain name to WordPress, will it be changed in anyway?

    Ie- mainstreet.com turns into mainstreet.wordpress.com

    Hi there,

    Your domain will not change, no. Nothing can change a domain name once it’s registered.

    Before you can transfer the domain you will need to create a WordPress.com site first, with an example.wordpress.com address. You’ll then transfer your domain to that site, using one of our paid plans, and then your domain will appear instead of the WordPress.com one when someone views your site. But all WordPress.com sites have that underlying free address, as that’s where the site is actually located on our servers.

    But that address won’t be visible to visitors to your site if you add your own transferred domain.
