transferring domain name

  Hi! Maybe this should be obvious, but I can’t figure it out. I’m creating a website on WP and want to use a domain I already own. I know I need to upgrade to do this. When upgrading, do I need to choose a domain I have no intention of using so that I can then transfer over the domain name I already own? Or is it possible, when upgrading my plan, to avoid choosing a domain name I won’t need? I hope that made some sort of sense. :)

  Hi there,

  When upgrading, do I need to choose a domain I have no intention of using so that I can then transfer over the domain name I already own?

  You do not need to pick a domain at the time you upgrade and are welcome to do so at a later date.

  If you own your domain with another company you can transfer it when you are ready and the transfer fees are included in your upgrade. It’s perfectly fine to use the WordPress.com URL temporarily to “get all set up” and then connect your custom domain when you are ready to “launch” your site at the final address.
