Transferring domain to Bluehost
-
I was recommended to use WordPress by a friend, so naturally I googled it and clicked on the first link WordPress.com which I have discovered was not what I was looking for, but rather I was looking for the functionality found through wordpress.org. As such, I cancelled my registration for dot-com so that I can get started with using the dot-org side. I signed up with Bluehost as was recommended, but I have been unable to get started on producing my web site as either the domain I registered with dot-com still belongs to WordPress, or is in the process of being cancelled if that makes sense. This is for gabrielotrin.com. With the Bluehost registration process I am prompted to go on gabrielotrin.com and log in from there, but I can’t do that as this message comes up from Automattic: “Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. ” So it’s prompting me to log into wordpress.com, which does work, but obviously I can’t progress with Bluehost. Is there something we can do here to fully transfer my gabrielotrin.com domain to Bluehost so that I can get started with using wordpress.org? Or do I simply have to wait until gabrielotrin.com is available again to use it?
Thanks,

Hi Gabriel,
You are right, the domain has indeed been cancelled on our end and returned to the registry. All that you are waiting for from them is for it to be released back to the general public. It usually takes between 3 and 5 days and then it becomes available again, though there are always exceptions. Sadly it is entirely within their power so it can sometimes get released a bit early or late.
So the only thing which we can recommend you do is wait a bit longer and register your domain as soon as it becomes available.
So sorry for the inconvenience!
