transferring domain to new registrar

    Hi, I have a few questions about this.
    1) my site’s domain name (littlevillagehq.com) is currently registered through wordpress.com. I want to transfer my domain to a new registrar, but I’m unclear what happens to my existing site when I do that.
    2) If I install wordpress into my new hosting, is there a way of transferring the existing site into that?
    3) will I lose my existing site the minute i transfer my domain name away?
