Transferring domain with 3 years registration

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi, I am setting up with WordPress.com and have bought a 3-year domain name from GoDaddy. I selected the option of transferring the domain, but when I go to the next stage and enter the domain name, it says ‘One additional year of domain registration included in paid plans. Renews in one year at: £15.00 /year’. Why would it renew in 1 year when I have purchased is for 3 years upfront?

    Hi there, to the best of my knowledge if you’ve transferred your domain to WPcom, the renewal also carries over with it as well as an additional year that WPcom gives you.

    Regardless, I’ve gone ahead and flagged this thread for Staff attention regarding the message you’re receiving. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

  • Hi there,

    @justjennifer
    is correct. If you transfer the domain to us, it will be renewed for another year, so will be valid for the next four years once the process is complete.

    You’ll need to renew your WordPress.com plan every year, but the domain itself will only come up for renewal in 2024.
