Transferring domains

    I have a domain, not under my name, it is being given to me because the person who owns it no longer wants to set up a website with that name. I know I can transfer an existing .com but it is not in my name so I am wondering how I would transfer an existing .com and set it up as my own? What would the owner of the .com need to do to transfer it to me so I can use it?

    Hi @esadberry if the domain is a custom domain (without .wordpress.com or .home.blog for example) they’ll need to log into the place where they purchased the domain, then transfer its ownership to you. How they do that will depend on where they bought it.

    If it is a free .wordpress.com subdomain, though, here’s how they can transfer the whole site to you:
