Hi, I am switching from a paid domain to a new free domain with wordpress.com.

I would like to ask if its possible to move my email subscribers from my previous domain to my new domain? My older domain name is munhong.com

    thanks

The site I need help with is munhongblogs.wordpress.com.

  • Hi there,

The only subscribers that can be migrated to WordPress.com are subscribers who subscribed via the Jetpack plugin. I see you used to have that site connected to Jetpack at one point, but there’s only one Jetpack subscriber on it, so I’m guessing you have subscribers via another plugin.

What you can do is send invitations to those subscribers to follow your new WordPress.com site, but we limit this to ten invitations at a time, and people will only receive notifications from your site once they accept that invitation: WordPress.com has a strict opt-in only policy for email subscriptions, so you cannot subscribe someone to a site against their will, even if they’ve previously subscribed to another site of yours via another method.

What I’d recommend instead is that you import those subscribers to a newsletter service like Mailchimp. Then you can manually send them updates about your site as a newsletter, instead of via WordPress.com’s subscriptions feature.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.
