Transferring expired domain

  Our domain, Potaku.com, recently expired expired. We recently moved to another host with a new URL, but we want the OLD URL to redirect. WHOIS says the domain is still registered till next year so frankly I’m completely lost as to what we do. How to we get control of the URL back? We’ve lost use of our emails and we desperately need that back. Any ideas?
