Transferring Followers from WordPress.com to WordPress.org
-
I transferred my blog from wp.com to wp.org last year.
At that time, wp.com transferred my followers over for me. Since then, more followers keep going to my wp.com site (not sure why that is happening, as I don’t write in it anymore).
Questions:
1) Can someone please bring over the new followers since the last year to my wp.org site?
From: connectingspiritwithlife.wordpress.com
To: http://www.connectingspiritwithlife.com2) How do I redirect any new, future followers who are signing up to go to the wp.org site? Is there an automatic way to do that?
3) Perhaps the wp.org blog is the one collecting the new followers, however they are getting listed under the old site? Not sure.
Thank you for your help.
Is there a way I can bring all my followers as well?
Would rather not contact each of them to let them know, and just have it work seamlessly.
Thank you!

We have a tool for moving followers/subscribers to your Jetpack connected WordPress site. You can find instructions here:
http://jetpack.me/support/subscription-migration-tool/
Take a look through that page and let me know if you have any further questions. I’ll be happy to help.

Thank you rootjosh. I followed the procedure, and transferred all the followers.
I continue to get followers signing up, and it is going to the wrong account. I wonder if there is a glitch in the system, now that all my blogs are linked under one account.
Could that be possible?
Every time I create and spread around a blog post on my wp.org site, I get new followers on the wp.com site. Doesn’t make any sense as I haven’t written there in over a year.
Thanks for your help. I’d like to get this resolved once and for all.
Best,

Are you sure that these are WordPress.com followers? And not just twitter or FB followers?

So, here’s what is probably happening. Because your WordPress.com site still exists (meaning I can go to http://connectingspiritwithlife.wordpress.com/ and view it), people are still able to follow your site if they end up there through a tag search or a link somewhere.
You have two options:
1. Make your WordPress.com site private so that nobody can access it. This has the disadvantage of not pointing people to your new site, but it is free.
or
2. Purchase the site redirect upgrade. That way, anyone who tries to visit http://connectingspiritwithlife.wordpress.com/ will be sent to http://www.connectingspiritwithlife.com automatically.

Oops, forgot to give you the link to making your site private:
