transferring .fr domain

  Hello,
  I am trying to transfer my domain simucockpit.fr from Jimdo to WordPress. Problem : WordPress says : we cannot transfer domains ending by .fr, however, you can associate them.
  What I want is definitively cancel this domain from Jimdo. If I understand well, with an association, the domain will remain at Jimdo (and I’ll continue paying for that) , and there will be a copy at WordPress. Right ? What must I do ?

  Hi Claude!

  If I understand well, with an association, the domain will remain at Jimdo (and I’ll continue paying for that) , and there will be a copy at WordPress. Right ?

  If you map your domain it will still be registered with Jimdo, and yes, you will continue paying them for it, but the domain will point to your WordPress.com site. Bear in mind that mapping is free but you’ll need a paid plan to do it. Here’s more information about it:

  Hi,
  thank you for your explanation. What I want is that this domain be defintively registered at WordPress.com, and defintively forget Jimdo. . What must I do for that ?
  I already have a WordPress.com “personal” plan .
  Presently my site is simucockpit.wordpress.com, and what I want is to change it for simucockpit.fr

  I’m afraid this is not possible at the moment as we do not support local .fr domains. If, for whatever reason, you’re not happy with Jimdo, you can transfer your domain to another registrar and map it to your simucockpit.wordpress.com from there.
  Mapping is the only way you can use your domain with your site right now.

  Thank you for your fast reply. But if my domain simucockpit.fr is hosted by another registrar and then mapped with simucockpit.wordpress.com, it was perhaps not necessary to buy a “personal” plan, the free wordpress.com could have done the job . Right ?

  Mapping a domain you already own to a WordPress.com site does need a paid plan. See the link provided earlier:
