Transferring from Joomla to WordPress

    Hi there. We currently have a site that was created using Joomla, but I want to transfer it to a free version of WordPress. Is there a simple way to do that?

    Hi @miasairgood, we don’t have a built-in Joomla importer, but if your host will let you install a temporary copy of WordPress there, you could use one of several tutorials out there to get the content converted from Joomla to WordPress. Note that isn’t something we can provide support for, but hopefully one of the options will work well for you.

    Once you have that, you can import the content like so:
    https://wordpress.com/support/import/

    Be sure to use the content-only option if you’d like to keep the site free. Be sure as well to make sure your images import properly since you’ll be double-processing that in a way.

    Finally, I’d recommend redirecting your domain to your new site. Your host may be able to help with a 301 redirect, or you can transfer the domain here (note that’s a paid option.)
