Transferring from self hosted to wordpress
-
I currently have a self hosted wordpress blog with godaddy, however I’m not happy about how long the site takes to load for me and my visitors. I’m a big fan of the way readers can “like” a blog and follow them in their reader through the wordpress.com site. I’ve also noticed that all the sites load mega quick which is what I’m after. I’m under the impression that due to being self hosted I can’t take advantage of this cool community function.
I’m wanting to know if I can move the entire site plus my domain name to to wordpress, still use plug ins, integrate with the community and just have a better experience?
Hope someone can answer me, I thank you in advance :)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The short answer is: No.
You can’t use plugins. That’s not an option here. You can do everything else. See here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/can-i-change-my-blog-from-wordpressorg-to-wordpresscom?replies=5

PS – the slow loading is due mostly if not entirely to poor design practices on your blog – you need to get help at WordPress.ORG on good web site design practices

Even with the paid upgrade on WordPress, I can’t use plugins?
Thanks for the responses so far :)

re: plugins
WordPress.com is a multiuser blogging platform. Our blogs are not free standing. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we bloggers cannot install any plugins. There is no upgrade you can purchase that will provide FTP access and the ability to install plugins, upload themes, and/or edit templates and themes in a free hosted WordPress.com blog.

To use plugins you must hire a web host and then set up your own WordPress.org install. -

Actually there is one. The VIP program allows you to use plugins which pass the tests that staff set for security etc. The VIP program costs $30,000 a year plus set-up fee, and $6,000 per plugin you want cleared.
