Transferring from WordPress.com to WordPress.org
-
I’m in the process of transferring from wordpress.com to wordpress.org and I’m having trouble logging into my WordPress.org site.
I have hosting/domain from WordPress.com currently and I’m trying to do a full transfer to wordpress.org. I’ve exported my file from WordPress.com
I’ve purchased hosting at Bluehost – when asked if I wanted a domain I selected that I already had one and used my current domain. After everything was set up in Bluehost I clicked Install WordPress. It asked which domain I want to install to and I selected my current domain (the one being hosted by WordPress.com)
This is where I’m hitting a snag – the admin link provided by Bluehost after the installation brings me to the WordPress login, but the login credentials they provided don’t work. I’m able to log in using my wordpress.com info, however. This brings me to the .com site.
I’d like to be able to log into the wordpress.org site and set everything up before switching the domain over to the new host. Am I doing something wrong? How do I log into the wordpress.org site installed on Bluehost?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks everyone.

Hi,
Sometimes it can take up to a full day before you domain is registered in your new hosting service. So how long has it been since you registered it with Bluehost?
Otherwise, if you have installed wordpress correctly, you should be able to access your dashboard by going to shedidwhatshewanted.com/wp-admin and using your username and password.
I suggest you open a thread in wordpress.org forums here: https://wordpress.org/support/ -
And one more thing, when you go to the log in page, see if there is a button down the log in box saying “log in with wordpress.org” and if there is one, then click it and try to log in again.
