Transferring media files from WordPress.com to Self Hosted WP

  I am transferring a WordPress.com site to a self hosted WordPress site. When I import the pages/posts to the self hosted WordPress site and check the box “Download and import file attachments”, does it still keep a copy of my media files on WordPress.com? I don’t want to lose these files until I’m ready to switch my domain name over!

  Yes, all your files remain on WP.com. They are just duplicated to the export file, not removed.
