transferring my blog

  I have an existing WP.com blog that I would like to change the URL name to a shorter one. I am currently the “registered owner” of the new name I wish to use but I cannot transfer my current blog because the name already exists.

  I would like to have the URL of my current blog (haphazardhumorandtopicsofcuriosity.wordpress.com) to the shorter version I have (hhtc.wordpress.com)

  Hey there!

  Ahhhh….I see. The easiest way to have done this would simply have been to change your blog address. For future knowledge, in case this comes up again:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

  However, now that you registered a second (shorter) WordPress.com domain name, your longer domain name cannot be “switched” to it.

  My suggestion is to export all your content from haphazardhumorandtopicsofcuriosity.wordpress.com and import it into hhtc.wordpress.com. It is a quick/painless process :)

  Hi Robyn,
  This is incredibly helpful! I’ve done the export and am waiting for the confirmation on the import. The fun part will be when I have to transfer my media :) I see many cups of coffee in the near future for me.
