  Will I have to purchase WordPress Paid plan to use my domain and build website?

  Yes. You can transfer or map a domain you already own to your WordPress.com site if you upgrade to a paid plan.

  You can of course continue to build your site with a free plan if you’re happy with the current address.

  I am also looking at this option, but I have no knowledge what so ever with how hosting and domains work. This : https://wordpress.com/plans is the fee for host? Or for domain only?
