Transferring my domain.

  Hi
  I’ve recently set up a new wordpress website and would like to move my domain ‘projectdhara.com’ to the wordpress site, I do not know if ‘transferring’ or ‘mapping’ is the better option and whether I’ll have to buy a plan to complete either.

  The domain I intend to move to my wordpress site is with hostgator.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  No problem, I can explain the differences:

  With mapping, the domain will remain registered with HostGator. This process creates a connection between the domain and WordPress.com — the domain will still need to renewed through HostGator each year, in addition to renewing the plan you purchased through WordPress.com:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  Transferring the domain from HostGator to WordPress.com means it will be registered and renewed through us each year. This option would be better if you want to manage the site and domain through one account:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

  and whether I’ll have to buy a plan to complete either

  Both options will require a paid plan, so you’d need to upgrade whichever you route you chose :)
