Transferring my domain from MrSite to WordPress

  • Unknown's avatar

    Dear Support Team,

I’m moving away from my current website provider Mr Site to WordPress. They have given me an EPP code so that I can keep my domain name, what do I have to do with this? Is this Mapping a Domain?

    Thanks,

    Elizabeth Charnock

    Hello Elizabeth,

WordPress.com does not support incoming domain transfers at the moment. i.e. you cannot transfer your domain from your current registrar (Mr Site) to WordPress. Quoting from the WordPress.com support article on the same:

If you already have a domain and you want to use it with your WordPress.com blog, follow the instructions for mapping an existing domain. We do not currently support incoming domain transfers, but you can still get any domain to work with your WordPress.com blog.

However, you can point your domain to your WordPress.com blog, and that’s called domain mapping.

Yes, you can keep your domain at Mr Site and your blog address will effectively change to your new domain. To add domain mapping, you have to change the nameservers of your domain to the default WordPress.com values and ‘Add domain mapping’ in the domains page.

    Hope this helps. :)
