Transferring my domain name
-
I already have a domain name with GoDaddy. I have paid for it for 1 year. If I transfer the domain to WordPress, will I be charged now or at the end of the year? Also, after the domain transfer, will I still need to get a hosting plan from somewhere else?

Hi there,
Our support page states:
As part of the transfer process, your domain will be renewed for an additional year. If your domain has already been renewed to the maximum possible term (ten years for most TLDs, though shorter for some country-code TLDs), it won’t be possible to transfer until the domain becomes eligible for renewal again.

So, you will pay for the domain again, but you’ll get an additional year of registration.
Also, after the domain transfer, will I still need to get a hosting plan from somewhere else?
Hosting at WordPress.com is free, so no need to purchase hosting here or elsewhere if the site is hosted here.
Thanks,
