Transferring my HTML site to WordPress.

    Greetings!

I have been searching the web and following YouTube videos for a few days now trying to figure out how to transfer my .html files from my desktop onto WordPress. I was able to create the .php files but I cannot figure out how to properly align the .html data within the .php files. Is there a straight-forward guide or some sort of guidance that can be offered? I can provide any additional information needed. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Can you not just block (Control-A) and copy-paste (Control-C, Control-V) into the WP HTML editor? Or have I misunderstood your problem?
On my sites, I save each page onto an external programme (notepad) by blocking the whole page in the HTML editor and transferring it to notepad as an HTML file, as a back-up. If anything goes wrong with the page, I can transfer the backup back.
Is it possible that you use a different HTML? For instance, if you include CSS, WP.com does not accept CSS.
Also there is a list of tags that WP accepts, you may have used others.
I am not an expert, I do not know what a .php file is even, but do not see why it is needed, someone who is an expert may give you a better answer.

Thank you very much for responding. That makes sense as I am trying to use CSS. The YouTube video (youtube.com/watch?v=CZRgvAtwpxw) includes a styles.css within the folder containing the .php files. Which is confusing since you’re saying WP doesn’t accept CSS. Maybe WordPress isn’t the site I should be using. My html website is completely finished with CSS, I just want to get it on the internet. I have to do more research. Thank you again for responding.

My submission did not appear so I am re-sending it.
In all my sites, I block (ctrl-A) and copy (ctrl-C) the HTML editor page of each page and paste it into an external programme, Notepad, as an HTML file. This is one of my backups. If anything goes wrong with the page, I simply block and copy-paste from the notepad file backup into the site HTML file.
Can you not do the same, block and copy-paste your HTML files directly onto the HTML editor page on the site?
I am no expert, I do not know why the .php files do not work or even what they are or why they are needed, but if I have misunderstood your question I leave it to an expert to reply.

Please ignore the duplication. My first reply disappeared so I resubmitted, it has now appeared with your reply.
Note: some WP sites do accept CSS, the free one on WP.com does not. I suggest you check it.
