Transferring My website domain and email address

    I would like to transfer My website domain name and email address to building a website with Your company wordpress how can I do that?

    While we register new domains here at WordPress.com, we’re not able to accept incoming transfers of existing domain names. Therefore, we recommend that you keep the name registered at your current registrar. You can use the domain for your site here at WordPress.com by mapping the domain, as explained here:

    Why does WordPress NOT transfer domain names and email address over ? I can’t loose the domain name nor the email address as I have all My business info from flyers, to business cards and all that. So You are saying I CAN’T use WordPress cause they CAN’T transfer it over ???

    I will be purchasing but if I can’t transfer it over then I will have to go with GoDaddy which I really did NOT want to :(

    Hi there,

    As staff-ozmodiar explained, you can still use the domain here even if it’s registered with GoDaddy. You do that with the domain mapping upgrade. That upgrade connects your WordPress.com site to any domain registered with any other company.

    The only thing that’s not possible is to transfer the domain registration over to us. It’s a technical limitation, so it’s not that we don’t want to help. We really can’t in this case.

    But your domain doesn’t need to be registered with us for you to use it with a site here.
