Transferring old posts and turning off e-mail notifications

  I have switched to WordPress.com from an iWeb blog and would now like to post about 36 old posts so that the new blog will be complete. I have cut and pasted the old posts, but have not as yet published. I would like to publish these posts without my subscribers getting notifications of a bunch of older posts that they have already seen from my old blog. Will post-dating the posts turn off the e-mail notification, or is there another way to publish these posts “behind the scenes” so to speak? Thank you in advance.

  Temporarily set your site to private (settings > privacy, bottom option) and then publish the older posts. When you are done, set the site back to public.
