transferring or mapping

I just purchased my domain through blue press and it says I am unable to transfer until a later date. I am having trouble understanding how to get around this issue, or if it would just be easier and more financially sound to map the website?

    Hello @shannonannag,

I just purchased my domain through blue press and it says I am unable to transfer until a later date.

If you just registered a domain through the said registrar, you’ll have to wait 60 days to be able to transfer them. This 60-day lock is required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and cannot be overlooked.

In the meantime, you can keep it with the said registrar and point them to WordPress.com by mapping it. Here’s how that works:

if it would just be easier and more financially sound to map the website?

All WordPress.com paid plans include a domain credit that covers the cost of the transfer. They also provide an automatic domain renewal for another year once the transfer has been successfully completed. After the first year, your domain will renew at the regular cost:

In short, you will need to purchase a paid plan anyway to map or transfer a domain to WordPress.com.

To save time and maintain an online presence through your website, begin with mapping your site and you can transfer it over to WordPress.com after the 60 day lock period is over.

Hope this was of help. All the best.
