Transferring .org to me

    Hi! A person no longer associated with our organization owns the .org. She says she is unable to transfer it to me. She wonders if this is because the domain is no longer active.

    MonarchAnnapolisPTA.org is the domain.

    Can you help us out?
    I’m about to renew monarchAnnapolisPTA.com, And I’m aiming to have both domains on the same cycle.

    Hi,

    So here is the situation. The domain is owned by another WordPress.com user account and expired on 2022-09-11. Expiration is a long process which you can read more about here:

    MonarchAnnapolisPTA.org is currently in the “Redemption period”. What the means is that it can still be renewed, but it incurs a rather significant late fee of $80.

    But the fact that it is expired is what is causing the inability to transfer it to your account.

    So we have a couple ways we can go:

    1. You can simply wait out the expiration process and register the domain when it is released to the pool of available domains again. This is the cheapest way to go, but it does carry the risk that a domain squatter will see it on the list of recently available domains and snatch it up before you can register it.

    2. The current owner can renew the domain (and pay the redemption fee) and the two of you can settle the money aspect however you see fit. Then the current user can contact us to request that the domain ownership be transferred to your WordPress.com account. They are welcome to post in this forum thread or we can email them at the address associated with their WordPress.com user account.

    3. The current owner can confirm (by post in this thread or via email) that they want to transfer ownership to you. Then you can pay for the domain renewal and redemption fee. Once that is sorted out, we will transfer the domain ownership to your WordPress.com account.

    I have been able to work this out with the other party. Thank you so much for your help!

    Another question though… Even though both of these domains have been paid in full and are showing is active, I am unable to send email from that domain reliably. Please advise. Is there a waiting period of sorts?

    Hi there,

    To clarify, you are using Google Workspace Email (formerly G Suite) to power your emails?

    On our end I can confirm I see domain settings for connecting to Google Workspace, and those appear to be correct. Do you know who owns the Google account? You may need to have their support take a look.

    We are a Google Workspace reseller but it seems that the person that set up this email purchased that directly through Google (and not us) so we are not able to look further than to confirm the settings you need look to be in place.
