Transferring our domain

    Hello! I have questions about transferring my domain. I have a church website currently set up on a third party hosting site based on WordPress. (built on mission) I would like to transfer everything to our own WordPress for multiple reasons. However, when I go to shut down our account at BOM they said we will no longer have access to our website. I would like to reference it as I build our new one but I am wondering if I can build our new site before I transfer our domain?

    I would like to transfer everything to our own WordPress for multiple reasons.

    It sounds like you wish to move theshorechurch.com over to WordPress.com. rather than using WordPress.org software with Bluehost. Is that correct? If so, we have some information about the process here:

    I am wondering if I can build our new site before I transfer our domain?

    This would be possible. You can start by creating a site on WordPress.com, adding content, choosing a theme etc. When you are ready to make the switch, the existing domain can be mapped or transferred to WordPress.com.

    If you need to upgrade plans to access certain features like additional storage space, the domain credit can be left unused until a later date — this means you would be using a free address until then.
