Transferring over domain name

    Hi!

    I currently have a website with another company, but I have created a Word Press site and want to transfer my domain name over to my Word Press site.

    I asked the company I am currently with if this was possible, and they said “do you just want us to direct your current domain to your new one”

    But I’m not sure that’s what I want? If I do that then will it not still show in the URL box the address I’ve created the website with, opposed to the one I am wanting to transfer over?

    To give more details my website with Word Press is: scottishgemstones.wordpress.com and the domain I want to transfer over to it is: scottishgemstones.com

    Correct. If they redirect your domain, anyone trying to visit your domain will get sent to your WordPress.com site, but they’ll see the WordPress.com site’s address in their browsers.

    If instead you want the domain to appear in the browser if someone views your WordPress.com site, you either need to map the domain to us, meaning it stays registered at the current provider but you give us control of the DNS, or transfer the registration to us completely.
