Transferring Ownership

  I am now working on a blog set up by someone else not available for assistance. I need to have the ownership transferred to me so I can upgrade to premium services. I really need some assistance!

  Upgrades from WordPress.COM can only be purchased by WordPress.COM bloggers and can only be used on free hosted WordPress.COM blogs.

  That is not a free hosted WordPress.COM blog. You are posting to the wrong support forum. Note that we do not provide support here at WordPress.COM for any installs of WordPress.ORG software. We provide support only for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs being hosted right here on this multiuser blogging platform.

  WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate, have different log-ins and run different versions of themes with same names. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

  Thank you for your assistance. I am trying to track down exactly what the previous person had set up.
  I realize that wp.com and wp.org are totally different.
  I am now trying to migrate my wp.org site to wp.com…
  I have exported the current file
  I have gotten a wp.com account and indicated I already owned the domain name and that it should be mapped.
  I purchased the premium upgrade.
  I imported the previous site.

  The new site says to wait for it to be processed. Is this all I have to do?

  Hi there – That all sounds correct, except your domain is not yet mapped. Please follow these instructions to map it to your wp.com site:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domain

  You won’t be charged the mapping fee, since it’s included in your upgrade.

  If you don’t currently own the domain yourself, please contact the owner of the domain and also contact support at MyQuickDomains (the registrar) to figure out how to first transfer the domain to you. Then, you can proceed to map it here as described.
