Transferring Ownership with Plugins
-
Hi. I have a hypothetical question for something I’m trying to set up.
If I am building a dedicated landing page for a client by using specific paid plugins like elementor (and assuming all domains are hosted by wordpress), how do I go about transferring this to the client?
Will the elementor subscription be transferred over to them as well to be paid for? Or will the subscription remain in my name but they are able to access the elementor-built site without being able to make any changes?
Any insight into how this works would be very helpful. Thanks a lot!! :)

Hi! Generally items like Elementor are separate purchases; Elementor Pro isn’t sold via WordPress.com, so Elementor themselves are your best point of contact for license transfer queries there.
So, in general setup terms – you’d likely want to create a new site (per client), and add the Business plan to it so it can use plugins:

When it’s built, if you’d want to move it over to your client so that they control it, you would start by inviting them to be an administrator – this gives them access to manage the site, but it does not give them access to your billing info:
https://wordpress.com/support/invite-people/On our side of things, when you yourself purchase a plan and register a domain for a site you’re hosting here, those items are indeed associated with your account. Without any plugins on a site, you can transfer the site ownership to another administrator yourself:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/If the site has plugins like Elementor, our Happiness Engineers can help transfer ownership of the site and the Business plan to another administrator – just send us a message about it:
https://wordpress.com/help/contactDomains that you’ve registered here can only be transferred to someone else by you:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/Of course, if you’ve registered the domain with a different company (and simply pointed it towards the site here), then you’d need to check in with the domain provider there for moving ownership of the domain.
I believe Elementor themselves have specific guides with regards to allowing clients to manage a site but not make changes to certain aspects of the content; it isn’t something we can really speak to but I found this guide:
