transferring site to wordpress

    I have an existing site and I want to move it to wordpress for hosting. The creator of the site asked that I have a paid hosting service set up so he can transfer it. What do I need to do to facilitate this.

    Thanks for writing to us. The easiest way to transfer a completed site over to WordPress.com is through a migration plugin. Using plugins requires special infrastructure on our end and you’ll want the business plan to facilitate that option.

    Alternatively, you can connect the domain, and import your content manually on a lower level plan option. There’s nothing wrong with this process. It just takes a little longer. Depending on your time line this might be a better option. All of the plans are visible on https://wordpress.com/pricing/ and you’ll see the different costs and features of each plan. There is a significant savings for paying for the annual plan versus monthly.

    If you’re not sure which plan is right for the project just let us know. We’re happy to work out the details about what functionality you need, and learn more about your goals. The plans can be changed at any time so it’s not a big deal if you start off on one plan and then need to change it later.
