Transferring stats between old and new servers
-
Hi. I’m switching hosts for several wordpress.org installations running 3.0. I’d really like to save my stats history, which is using the old wordpress.com stats plugin (not Jetpack). The URLS will all remain the same, just the hosts are changing. How do I keep these stats when I migrate and switch to Jetpack?
Thanks,
Mike Sayre

The stats are stored on our servers, so you won’t need to worry about moving.
However, I do recommend switching to Jetpack before moving.

Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure it’s possible to switch to Jetpack first, because the old hosts are locked down tight behind a firewall for security reasons. Plugins have to be installed manually via command line using SSH with the help of developers. It can be done but it would be a gnarly process.
The new host doesn’t have that issue. Is there a way to reconnect a domain to its stats if they get somehow disconnected?

It is possible to reconnect stats if there is a problem, but not in all cases. Generally, there shouldn’t be a problem.
In this case, try the move first, then upgrade to Jetpack.
