transferring subscribers to wordpress.org

  • Unknown's avatar

hello, i’ve recently moved my ‘eat this my friend’ over to wordpress.org and would like my subscribers to still be subscribed. I have jetpack installed and have activated the subscribe function – are they automatically still subscribed?
Also, does the traffic from search engines and the like automatically direct to the new blog? Do i need to a new website verification with google so it appears in search results?

thanks in advance for your help : )

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi!

We’ve actually made it possible for users to do this from their WordPress.com My Blogs section. It looks like everything is setup correctly on your self-hosted blog. So, all you’ll need to do is navigate here when logged in:

    http://wordpress.com/my-blogs/

From that page, click “Manage” under your self-hosted blog. On the following page, you’ll see an option for “Move Followers From A WordPress.com Blog”. Select the correct WordPress.com blog from the drop-down menu and click “Migrate”.

Let me know if you have any trouble!

Hello again Jeremy, I was able to successfully migrate my followers from the old wp.com over to the new one with your helpful advice, yet now I have encountered a new problem and I am hoping you again are the man with the answers.
My new blog posts are not appearing in my ‘followers’ wordpress reader. I am not sure how or why this has happened, my fellow wordpress bloggers were migrated over, along with the email only followers. The email only followers are all still getting emails.
Any assistance would be hugely appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jade

My new blog posts are not appearing in my ‘followers’ wordpress reader.

    How do you know this?

Do you also follow your own blog? are you able to see your own posts in the WordPress.com reader?

    Looking forward to your reply.

Hi there, thanks for the reply.

I have a few friends with wordpress blogs who are also followers. All three have said my posts are not in their reader ever since I moved over to self hosting.

I suspected there was a problem when I noticed a dramatic drop in ‘likes’ from followers, then asked my friends to take a look at their readers for me.

Not at all sure how to fix this – please help!

    Jade.

What are their usernames? this way I can check their settings to see if everything is correctly set.

Make sure that you’ve enabled the ‘Enhanced Distribution’ module on the Jetpack page of your self-hosted site: http://jetpack.me/support/enhanced-distribution/

hi, i checked and i have enabled enhanced distribution.

one user (priya kedlaya) has confirmed i am still in her reader, but there is no longer an option to like or comment from there, only within actual the post.

these three – kirrilyfred, aprilhillipsfootwear and kaylewhitham cannot see me at all in their reader.

i am now following my own blog and am able to see posts in the reader, but also have no option to like or comment.

    cheers, jade

these three – kirrilyfred, aprilhillipsfootwear and kaylewhitham cannot see me at all in their reader.

I’ve just checked from their accounts and I’m able to see your posts in their reader.

i am now following my own blog and am able to see posts in the reader, but also have no option to like or comment.

The like and comment feature is currently only available to sites that are hosted on WordPress.com.

ok, well that is pretty weird they cannot see me?
    thanks for your help.

Could you please ask them to contact us directly at http://wordpress.com/contact if they encounter issues within their reader? This way we can better troubleshoot the problem.

However, I logged into their accounts and I was able to see your posts in their reader.

    Thank you.
