Transferring theme from one WordPress site to another

    Hello,

    I am running this WordPress.com website for my supervisor. She was recently granted a new website hosted by our university. We would like to deactivate the old website, and in order to have everything migrated as close as possible, we would love to continue to use Dynamic News Pro, which we paid for earlier this year. Our content management support have agreed to install the theme on her new website (still WordPress, but has the university initials after her name now) if we can provide them with a .zip file of the theme. Would this be possible? So, we will be still using just one version of your theme which we have paid for after we deactivate this account.

    However, see also the following from the Premium Themes support page:

    When you purchase a Premium theme, it is available for the lifetime of that blog. If you would like to use the same theme across multiple blogs, you’ll have to purchase the theme for each blog.

    Note: Premium Themes that are set up for WordPress.com use only cannot be transferred to self-hosted WordPress.org sites.

    Your comments about “installing” a theme and a “.zip file” suggest that you’re referring to a self-hosted site. If so, then this portion of the quote in my previous post, from the Premium Themes support page, is relevant:

    Premium Themes that are set up for WordPress.com use only cannot be transferred to self-hosted WordPress.org sites.

    Hi there,

    To confirm what @musicdoc1 said, you will not be able to use the theme you purchased from us on a self-hosted WordPress.org site. The theme you bought is only licensed for use on WordPress.com. You will need to contact the theme developer to obtain the self-hosted version of the theme which you’ll then be able to install to the new site.
