Transferring to own domain, cancel WordPress hosting, keep .wordpress.com URL

If we cancel our Premium plan at WordPress, can we still keep the .wordpress.com URL and point it to our new hosted domain?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can forward traffic from a WordPress.COM blog to a self hosted site – you can’t use the aimeekade2.wordpress.com/ as the address on a self hosted site

Thanks so much for your reply. Actually, it’s for my friend’s blog. Here’s where we are not sure …
1. He has a blog on WordPress.com that he’s been using for years.
2. He pays for a Premium Plan on WordPress.com.
3. He now wants a different looking wordpress blog that he is working on and is on another hosted domain that he currently has (i think with goDaddy).
4. He wants to point his wordpress.com blog to his new domain so that everyone who types in his that wordpress.com URL is automatically directed to his new domain that is hosted somewhere else and will see the new wordpress blog he customized.
5. He wants to cancel his Premium Plan at WordPress.com since he is now paying for another hosted domain for his new blog somewhere else and won’t need the Premium Plan any longer.
6. He just wants to be able to have his wordpress.com URL point to that new domain.I hope that makes sense. Can we do this?
If not, what can we do so that he can use his new customized wordpress blog on his new domain and have his current wordpress.com URL point to it without having to pay for two services?

Thank you! It looks like the redirect is what we need.
But what about the annual Premier Plan at WordPress.com? Can we cancel that or will that automatically be cancelled once we purchase the Redirect upgrade?
-
I don’t think we have a “Premier” plan at WordPress.COM – there is a “Premium” plan here that does include domain name registration – the Upgrade could just be allowed to expire by turning off the auto renew – the staff might need to help with the domain mapping being swapped to domain forwarding – or the staff can cancel things completely – however if the domain name is registered here that need to be separated out so the registration does not stop and the domain name goes away
To be sure of things – would you please post the URL of you friends blog that you need help with so we can make sure we are giving you accurate help?

Oh yes … sorry … I meant “Premium” plan.
His new domain name is not registered at WordPress. He just wants his wordpress.com URL to point to his new domain.
So once he redirects his http://noscarhairlosssurgery.wordpress.com/ URL to forward to his new domain URL, can he cancel his Premuim plan? When does the domain forwarding expire? Does it expire? Are there additional costs for forwarding the wordpress.com URL?
-
Domain forwarding is I think $ 13.– / year
I doubt there would be a refund for a canceled upgrade – but you could try asking the staff to change the domain mapping part of the upgrade to domain forwarding –
yes – once domain forwarding is in place the Premium plan could be canceled or just allowed to expire by making sure the auto renew is not enabled – leaving the Premium plan in place should not affect anything
Make sure that the Perma-Link structure on their new blog matches the format here to keep the links working –
