Transferring to self-hosted

  I would like to transfer my jeffcrume.wordpress.com site to a self-hosted iempoweryou.org. (I have already purchased the domain, and purchased wordpress hosting from godaddy) How do I transfer all content and followers from my wordpress site to my self-hosted site? Thanks in advance for your help. – Jeff

  We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
  (1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
  (2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.

  WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.   If you move to self-hosting, and if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

  thank you for your quick reply!! Are there any advantages/disadvantages of upgrading my account and leaving it with wordpress, and moving it to self-hosted?

  Upgrades apply only to wordpress.COM hosted blogs while they remain hosted here. They do not apply to wordpress.ORG sites.

  Thank you….I guess I still am not certain of the difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org… :-)
