Transferring to WordPress.org when domain is under 60 days old
-
Hi, I recently subscribed with WordPress.com and got a free domain, causeofchristmusic.com. A little over a week after starting work on my site, I realized I meant to use WordPress.org. So I signed up with Bluehost to use it with WordPress.org. I began designing a new site (the domain was nnk.xxv.mybluehost.me). Today, I decided I should transfer my real domain to the Bluehost. When I tried to do that, WordPress.com notified me that I could not do that, being within 60 days of purchasing the domain. So I followed the directions to change the domain’s name servers to Bluehost, thinking this would fix my issue. However, immediately, when I would go to nnk.xxv.mybluehost.me, it would redirect me to causeofchristmusic.wordpress.com where I originally started designing my site before switching to Bluehost/Wordpress.org. So I tried logging into login.wordpress.org hoping to find my new site that way. But it said that my login info didn’t exist. I’m assuming this might be because I only have a Bluehost account (though I’m definitely using WordPress.org with Bluehost, so this is a little confusing). So then I went back into WordPress.com and undid the changing of the name servers for causeofchristmusic.com. But still nothing has changed. I have completely lost all the work on my bluehost/Wordpress.org site (nnk.xxv.mybluehost.me), and worse yet, I can’t even figure out how to use causeofchristmusic.com with WordPress.org, even if it means starting over the design of my website.
This is all very confusing to me—I am new at using WordPress and I’m sure most of this is user error. But I just want to be able to use causeofchristmusic.com (which was purchased with WordPress.com less than two months ago) with WordPress.org/Bluehost. I would love to recover my work at nnk.xxv.mybluehost.me, but again even if I can’t I just want to be able to transfer to WordPress.org without having to wait the full 60 days.
Maybe if I go back and change the name servers to Bluehost again, I just need to wait a full 72 hours and everything will work properly? But I’m confused how when I did this before, it immediately affected my work and site with Bluehost.

Hi there,
I noticed that when I try to visit nnk.xxv.mybluehost.me I am redirected to causeofchristmusic.wordpress.com. This appears to be a connection you have set up at bluehost, so please contact their support department and ask for their help in removing that redirection, so you can see the site on Bluehost properly.
On this end, you will want to add your Bluehost nameserver settings back to causeofchristmusic.com, and this will allow Bluehost to set that as your site address.
Please note that when you change your domain settings, the effect is not immediate, but can take 24+ hours before you see the change. It is normal (when you first update you name servers) to see the old site for a while before you see it is redirected to the new host.
This is normal, and will clear up on it’s own over time. Once the settings on this end are correct, and Bluehost has helped you set the site (on their end) to use causeofchristmusic.com, you can wait until your 60 days are up to transfer. Because you are adding the settings ahead of time, when you transfer it will be seamless and should not result in any downtime.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
