transferring to wordpress.org
-
okay. I want to be able to start using plug ins and the more advanced features of wordpress.org. I have already signed up with a provider, used their automatic wordpress installation feature, and completed the domain transfer aspects. According to my new provider (siteground), the DNS and such for my domain is pointing to their servers.
When testing things, however, it appears that the site is still on wordpress.com. I am unable to delete the .com version because I have a domain.
My understanding is that some aspects of this have to be manually done by wordpress.com staff. Is this one of those aspects? Having my site removed from wordpress.com so I can use my new on at siteground. Or am I missing something?
Thanks!

Have you followed these instructions? http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#toc and http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress It takes between 48 – 72 hours for the change to populate throughout the internet.

Are you saying that you had a domain-mapped wordpress.com blog? Did you unmap it before transferring?
