Transferring uploads to a blog in wordpress.com

    Hello,

I have a wordpress blog installed on a domain, but I’m thinking about transferring to a free blog on wordpress.com because of superior reliability (yeah, that’s right, you pay and you have more uncertainty). I’m wondering if there’s some (official or unofficial) way to import all of my uploads in the webspace offered by wordpress.com, and the vice-versa (a way to backup them altogether). Also, which MIME-types (and file extensions) are allowed on wordpress.com?

I assume that the “official” method to transfer uploads is by re-uploading them… which I suppose will change their position from the base url (if they were uploaded in 2004, they may be in folder /wp-content/uploads/2004/10/18/, but re-uploading them today will put them in a folder like /wp-content/uploads/2008/10/09/… right?). Anyway, not that bad… I’ll just have to change a hundred links, not that much…
