Transferring Wix Site to WordPress – lagtime

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

We currently have an active site on Wix but due to the lack of functionality, we want to switch over to wordpress. I am confident that the e-commerce pricing plan will suit our needs but I had some questions before I purchase the plan and start migrating.

    1. I saw that there is a functionality to automatically transfer the website from wix to wordpress – how much of the site it transferred over?
    2. How long will it take to transfer it over?
    3. What happens to all of our customer data that we have on the site, will our subscribers still be able to log on using their credentials?
    4. What happens to all of our shop-products, will they automatically be transferred over or will be have to set up a new shop on WordPress?

Essentially, I am hoping to learn exactly what will happen when we do make the switch, what to be prepared for, and what work will need to be done on our end.

    Thank you so much!

    Hello! 👋🏼

We’re glad you’re considering WordPress.com as your site’s new host!

I saw that there is a functionality to automatically transfer the website from wix to wordpress – how much of the site it transferred over?

Generally, with the Wix importer, only your site content is transferred (posts, pages, audio and video files).

Is there anything specific you’re having concerns about?

How long will it take to transfer it over?

There are many factors included in this — number of media files, posts, pages. But, it shouldn’t take more than 15-30min.

In some edge cases, importing might fail due to some network errors, but you can restart it.

What happens to all of our customer data that we have on the site, will our subscribers still be able to log on using their credentials?

With the importer, this data will not be imported into your WordPress.com site.

However, as per https://learnwoo.com/migrate-wix-to-woocommerce/ you can export a CSV from Wix and import it using the Built-in CSV import tool by making sure you correctly match the column headers: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/wiki/Product-CSV-Import-Schema#csv-columns-and-formatting 😊

What happens to all of our shop-products, will they automatically be transferred over or will be have to set up a new shop on WordPress?

You can follow the above instructions — they also apply to the products ✅

Please let us know if you have any other concerns.

    I hope this helped!
