transform from free domain to .com (with hosting)

  hello, i am building a blog and for now i have been using a free domain….eventually i would like to make it a .com , may i transform the one i have by purchase directly with wordpress and get a host by it? or should i go through the host plan and get the worpress installed with them? I am trying to avoid having to start over the building for the .com and being able to adapt the one i am already doing

  The choice is yours where you host your site but I would have thought it would be easier to upgrade your existing WordPress.com site here to a paid plan with a custom domain.
