Transitioning Stats

    Hi

    I was just seeking advice/opinion I’m moving to a self-hosted blog in the next few days and was wondering which stats if any I should carry with me? I started using site meter some time after starting my blog here so that number doesn’t jive with my WP stats. Or would you just start fresh carrying no stats over?
    With site meter I can see visits and pageviews, but with WP stats it’s just number of hits?
    Thanks

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    You won’t be able to take your WordPress stats with you: you’ll just start from scratch.

    I don’t know about site meter.
    WhosAmongUs is not specific to a blog, but Revolver Maps is.
    So you can paste code from WhosAmongUs into your new site and it will keep adding.
    But Revolver Maps is coded for a specific URL so it will keep counting that and not the new site.

    I’m sorry I should have been more clear. I’m going to use HiStats counter. When you set it up you have the opportunity to tell it where to begin the count. I could tell it to begin the hits at 9,703 as an example. That number if from WP. But I wouldn’t know where to begin the pageviews. With site meter I can get the count of hits and pageviews. I could use the hits from WP and pageviews from site meter.

    As it is ….site meter has recorded 5,908 visits and 14,576 page views.
    WP has recorded 9,711 hits. So if I were to go with WP the pageviews must be higher than what site meter has recorded.

    I’m not too familiar with WAU or RM …..I’ll look at RM …..and I’ll look into how WP arrives at ‘hits’ and ‘pageviews’
    Thanks

    If your want to use wordpress stats on your install then you need to upload the wordpress stats plugin into your install. See here > http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/stats/
    You need to retain your account here at wordpress.com in order to get the API key for the stats plugin. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/

    @TT

    Thanks. Yes, I already have the plugin. Thank you I’ll do that. And if I add something like HiStats as a counter I guess I could average the pageviews based on site meter. Sounds confusing I know. :)
