Transitioning themes- creating a static homepage

    Hello!
I was recently using the theme intergalactic 2, and have decided to transition to ‘Snaps’ to show off the photos I use for each header image of each post.

Currently, I cannot create a static page because my ‘home page’ (and what comes up when I enter my domain http://www.onelaurenbrown.wordpress.com) is my blog post, and whenever I follow the steps to create a static page, it gets rid of my posts!

Ideally I would like to create a new ‘home page’ that has photos that are linked to each individual blog post. On my primary menu I want to call this home, then have on my menu a section called ‘blogs’ in classic style, then about, contact, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Lauren,

I think that your blog post disappears is due to Snaps utilizing portfolio page, instead of the regular blog post page.

The two things I can think of for you to work around on it are:

    1. Post your blog as a portfolio page, instead of the regular blog post.
    2. Create a separate page containing the images that you want and link your blog post in those images.

    Hope that helps.

Thankyou for this, I will definetly try that!

Because I already have existing blogs, do you know how I can edit that page to become portfolio? Or do I have to go into each individual blog piece and make it portfolio under page attributions?

    Cheers!

    Hi Lauren,

My apologies as I was unable to respond immediately.

Currently, there are no option (that I know of) to convert blog post into testimonials.

However, searching through WordPress free themes. I was able to find a theme called “Cubic” and “Photos”. This will provide you with a photo gallery esque to your blog, as you have initially intended.

You can also use “Baskerville 2”, it is also a free theme that utilizes your blog photos and arranges it like a gallery.

    Hope this helps.
