Transitioning to premium site

  Hi, I wish to upgrade/transition my site to a premium site… it will take a while to build and I don’t want my current site down or to risk messing it up, so should I just build the new one under a temporary url then transition it over when done? I assum it’s straight forward when it comes to it. Thanks
