Translating my website

Hello,
I’m building my website at this moment (in french)and I would like to be able, soon, to add an english version of it. As it exists on many sites where you can select a language with small flags or a special menu.
What I’ve read on your help review is a bit different from my situation and I got lost. The simplest way to do (in my mind) would be to be able to copy/paste my site when it’s done and translate it myself. Or do I have to re-do it all again in english.
I’m sorry if I’m not very clear.

Automatic translation is not available to WordPress.com blogs. We bloggers do not have FTP access to blogs hosted by WordPress.COM and we bloggers cannot install any plugins, we cannot use Microsoft or Google translation widgets or any others, as they are JavaScript and it’s stripped out to preserve security on this multiuser blogging platform. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

thomasbazin, I have exactly the same problem.
thimethief, your reply misses the poin.
– The question has nothing to do with automatic translation, but with multilingual menus.
– Having two separate blogs, one in each language, is a far from optimal solution for maintenance reasons.
– The “language category” solution works only for posts, not for pages.
I understand the solution lies in css (I’ve gone through several WordPress sites that use it), unfortunately I am not skilled enough in css to implement it myself.
Can anyone help ? -
